my 1/8th mile trip

Postby Devilsword » Sat May 25, 2013 1:42 am

SO i got talked into going to the local strip after work and it had been a crappy week so far, bit by a black widow on my foot, employee decides to call out. after to day off so a work two doubles, so i go i do a few lap and was have trouble really stick for two reasons. 1 i have 3 degrees camber in the front tires and forgot the wrench to adjust it out, and the dumpy track wouldn't wet my tires so i could get heat in them on a 65 degree day. you will see me drive through the river to try and get the tires wet. i pull up next to a integra who had done a b20 swap with a b18c head and some minor mods. "warm" the tires up and even with all the wheel spin i still pull off a 9.85 @ 76.3 no to bad with minimum contact patch and needing a tune. here is the video

here where is get bad i hot lap around to line up with this turbo SOHC civic why? because its baby blue and he give me the evil eyes. drop the clutch at launch and grenade the clutch.....or at least i hope. so my bad week is ending with a bang literally. by the way the turbo hondas fastest time tonight was a 11.25 @ 63mph

could have been worse the guy in front of me on the bike in the first vid bike caught on fire that was soon fueled on by the nos located on the rear of the bike.

Nice! I've taken my Aerio to the strip before too and it's fun to see some hard numbers. Although weather and traction play a huge role in your ET. I've actually thought about going back to the strip on a cool dry night since my car is lighter, I'm lighter, and my exhaust is freer flowing. I think I could get close to 16.2 in the 1/4. But I'm buying a new car and handing down my trusty Aerio to my son who is taking it to college so I'm not gonna get a chance.

I echo the sentiment that your car sounds great.

Thats a pretty impressive time. That is actually a few 10th's faster than my esteem when it was all motor with intake & exhaust only. That time I ran a 15.5 in the 1/4, my 1/8 at the time was 10 flat. I am guessing that you might be doing about 15.0 - 15.2 in the 1/4. not bad at all. :bravo:
2000 Esteem. J20 (2.0) swap. T3 turbo - 7psi boost, exhaust, Clutchmasters stage 4 clutch. drag; 14.5sec @97.3mph in 1/4 mile. More changes to come.

yeah the camber what really hurting me. originally i wanted to go out there and see what i can do with my autocross set up and a 9.8 is rather good with 3 degrees of front camber, to bad i forgot the keep to drop the camber to 0. I friend of mine had one but his bike caught fire right after the pass at the top. literately he is the bike pulling off before i pull to the line. poor guy a improperly wire shift kit sparked and ignited the fuel line. that ignited the nitrous line and instead of blowing it feed the flame nothing left. :puke: Hopefully i can get the clutch back together and get to a 1/4 that is less ghetto and choppy. I would love one that had a proper river and gave out slips. I have no clue what my 60ft is and if i wasn't recording i wouldn't have gotten the times right. i think with the came closed to zero out i would have been in the low 9s with more traction and less spin. that would have made me happy lol. Next time.
