Test Viscous Coupling

Postby EddieBlueAerio » Wed May 03, 2017 7:41 pm

I'm new to this site, and I have a question about the viscous coupling on my girlfriend's aerio. About two years ago, she replaced a single rear tire instead of all four. She's getting a new set of tires now that a tech brought it to our attention. What's the chance that the viscous coupling is already cooked? Has anyone had that happen? Neither of us have detected any binding or hesitation under normal use. Is there a test that I can perform to see if it's engaging properly? I'm mechanically inclined, but I haven't had an AWD car before. To further complicate matters, we're in different states until August. Input is appreciated, thanks.
